Salary:

Hours: 37.5 hrs/week- Full Time; 18-month appointment

Location: Ronkonkoma, NY and travel throughout Suffolk County

Position:                              School Based Learning Collaborative Coordinator

Compensation:                 $80,000 per year- Exempt

Location:                             Ronkonkoma, NY and travel throughout Suffolk County

Position Description:

The goal of the School Based Learning Collaborative is to improve youth resiliency, by assessing and leveraging school settings to engage youth and families in innovative community-led solutions to promote resiliency and emotional health.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Engage school districts to become part of the learning collaborative
  • Oversee the coordinate and facilitation of meeting with key school personnel, including superintendents, principles, counseling department, the Nassau-Suffolk School Board Associations; as well as actively participate in monthly meetings
  • Research evidence-based approaches to school based social emotional learning and trauma informed approached
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify the current mental health needs of students and resources to meet needs across Long Island school districts
  • Develop a survey tool for school districts that identifies the needs districts have relative to mental health services, and the current relationships districts have to address mental health needs
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify, elevate and disseminate best practices in addressing the emotional needs of school aged children
  • Develop a learning collaborative that can research, collect meaningful solutions and interventions across the region
  • Research, collect and disseminate meaningful solutions and interventions across the region, while providing mentorship and opportunities for regional planning and solutions
  • Develop and disseminate tool kits to 125 school districts that are relevant to the regional needs of youth and families, with a focus on vulnerable populations
Qualifications:

The successful candidate should possess or be quickly able to acquire the following skills and abilities:

  • A Master of Science in program evaluation and data analytics or similar field; or 3+ years of equivalent experience
  • Effective skills to build and maintain collaborative relationships and communication with schools, outside agencies, parents, students and the public
  • 3+ years evaluating programs and services within established guidelines and standards
  • Experience developing and conducting survey questions based on theoretical models ( program logic model, theory of change, or results framework), that reflect the needs and interests of various stakeholders
  • Familiarity with mental health resources and Long Island school districts
  • Strong history of skills to research evidence-based models and compare outcomes across models
  • Experience creating data collection tools and managing the collection and cleaning of program data
  • Strong IT skills and proficiency in use of data analytics software (as well as Microsoft Office (Excel pivot tables)
  • Knowledge of the NYS education requirements and standards pertaining to social emotional learning
  • Knowledge and experience with NYS Department of Education policies and practices.
  • Skills and ability to analyze data, evaluate districts/school’s needs; and plan, organize and implement goals
  • Experience collecting and packing research findings to share with various stakeholders
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong ability to effectively present data in verbal, written, and visual formats to diverse stakeholders
  • Experience working with non-profits or local school districts
  • A passion for promoting the emotional health of school aged youth
  • A Valid NYS Driver’s License

 

TRAVEL:

  • Be prepared to use your own vehicle with mileage reimbursement
