Position Description:
Position Description: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) will work as part of the INSET team promoting hope and recovery for a vulnerable population. INSET is a collaboration between HALI and MHAW. INSET is peer-driven team approach providing intensive peer support in the community for a small group of people with unmet needs, particularly those on (or at risk of) Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT), or court-mandated psychiatric treatment
The PNP will ensuring clinical soundness of individual recovery plans and goals through evaluation of need, continued monitoring of care and planning for other levels of care and support.
General Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical perspective and consultation to INSET team; including clinical responsibility for monitoring recipient treatment and staff delivery of clinical services
- Provide guidance and oversight to staff for the direct psychiatric/medical care and service coordination for clients concerning the adequacy and appropriateness of the scope of services for clients and staff.
- Provide health monitoring and short-term interim medication treatment where needed
- Direct clinical care, which may include psychoeducation for INSET enrollees, evaluations to support applications (i.e. SPA housing) requiring clinical assessment, and direct treatment on a temporary basis
Gather and review of data concerning the recipient’s medical history and any current signs and symptoms, and the assessment of the data to determine their physical health status and need for referral for noted symptom presentation.
The successful candidate should possess or be quickly able to acquire the following skills and abilities:
- Certification as a nurse practitioner by the New York State Education Department
- A currently valid and unlimited license and registration to practice clinical nursing in the State of New York.
- A Valid NYS Driver’s License
- Be prepared to use your own vehicle with mileage reimbursement
- Experience working on a multidisciplinary team that included the peer perspective
- An appropriate level of medical malpractice liability insurance
- Board certification in the specialty of psychiatric nurse practitioner
- A currently valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certification
- Must be or be eligible to become a qualified provider in the Medicaid and Medicare programs
- A Collaborative Practice Agreement with our Medical Director
- Preferred: Bi-lingual (Spanish)
