Human Resources Administrator
Salary: $50,000 to $55,000 per year; non-exempt position
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Ronkonkoma, NY

The Association for Mental Health and Wellness is looking for a skilled and motivated Human Resources Administrator to support our HR department in delivering efficient, impactful HR services.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HR processes, an eye for detail, and excellent organizational and communication skills. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining employee records, supporting recruitment efforts and on boarding and off boarding processes, assisting with processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with all HR-related policies and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with recruitment processes, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
- Assist with onboarding and off-boarding processes, including preparing employment letters, conducting orientation, and ensuring proper documentation is completed.
- Support the payroll process by collecting timesheet data, ensuring accuracy, and assisting with payroll processing.
- Administer employee benefit enrollment, changes, and inquiries, ensuring smooth communication between employees and benefit providers.
- Administer and maintain accurate employee records, including personal information, employment history, and performance evaluations.
- Assist with preparing HR-related reports, maintaining records, and supporting audits.
- Support the administration of employee training programs and development initiatives.
- Maintain HRIS (Human Resource Information System) and generate reports as needed.
- Address employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and other related matters.
- Assist in resolving minor employee relations issues and escalate concerns as necessary.
- Assist with employee engagement and retention initiatives.
- Coordinate and assist with the performance appraisal processes.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of changes in HR-related laws.
- Clerical functions such as but not limited to preparing new-employee files, enter new employees into the HRIS system, and processes mail.
- Proven experience in HR administration or a similar role (1-3 years preferred).
- Familiarity with HRIS and other HR-related software systems.
- Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and labor laws.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of discretion, confidentiality, and integrity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Knowledge of payroll processing and benefits administration.
- Experience in recruitment and talent management.
Education and Experience:
- A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- 3 years experience in payroll processing, recruitment and talent management.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds or more at times.
