Salary: This is an unpaid internship position. Academic credit may be available through your institution — we encourage students to work with their program coordinator to explore credit opportunities

Hours: Hours are flexible and will be determined based on program needs and the intern's academic schedule. We work with each student to find a schedule that supports both their coursework and their contributions to the team

Location: Riverhead and Ronkonkoma, NY, with travel throughout Suffolk County as needed

Availability: Ongoing. Start dates are flexible and aligned with the student's academic calendar (Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters considered)

We are committed to providing valuable, hands-on learning experiences for both Graduate and Undergraduate Students seeking academic credit in human services and/or other related fields. Our internship program offers meaningful work across multiple programs, giving students real-world exposure to direct care, advocacy, administration, and community support services.

 

Eligible Disciplines:

  • Social Work
  • Mental Health Counseling
  • Creative Arts Therapy
  • Nursing
  • Psychology
  • Public Health
  • Other Human Service professions

 

Available Programs:

  • Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS)
  • Adult Care Management
  • Children’s Care Management
  • Veteran’s Program
  • Housing
  • Community Impact

→ Students may request a preferred program; however, placement is determined by the agency based on each student’s education and experience level.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Assist in completing client intakes
  • Lead and co-facilitate therapeutic or support groups
  • Provide one-to-one counseling under supervision
  • Plan and coordinate events for the community
  • Engage in advocacy work on behalf of clients
  • Conduct home visits
  • Provide care management assistance to clients

✔ Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in an eligible discipline

✔ Valid Driver’s license with a clean driving record

   ✔ Ability to pass all Agency required background checks prior to placement
