Art Therapist- Fee for Service
Salary: $40.00 per service unit
Hours: Up to 20 hours per week with evening and Saturday availability required

Position: Fee for Service Art Therapist
Service Unit Compensation: $40.00 per service unit, or $42.00 per service unit for Bilingual (non-exempt)
Training Compensation: $30.00 per hour for all required training (non-exempt)
Hours: Up to 20 hours per week

The Association for Mental Health and Wellness is seeking a passionate Fee for Service Art Therapist to join our Riverhead PROS team. This position will provide group and individual Art Therapy services to our clients. This role involves working with adults facing various mental health challenges in an outpatient psychiatric rehabilitation program. The ideal candidate will use art-making as a therapeutic tool to help clients explore emotions, improve well-being and enable them to express thoughts and feelings they may not be able to articulate. The Fee for Service Art Therapist total compensation per service unit includes required administrative tasks and the anticipated time to complete the services.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe and trusting environment
- Facilitate art therapy to groups up to 12 participants
- Responsible for Group Preparation
- Demonstrate ability to assess and evaluate client needs regularly and develop curriculum that foster skills and meet the interests and needs of our clients
- Demonstrate ability to engage participants in purposeful activity using artistic therapies
- Design interventions which are relevant to our population and their needs
- Deliver 1:1 Individual art therapy to PROS participants
- Coordinate with other members of the team to collaborate on progress and/or struggles with clients
- Help increase self-awareness and build healthy coping skills to improve ability to overcome obstacles and meet identified goals
- Exercises sound judgement in making therapeutic decisions concerning assigned cases.
- Management of on-site supplies and storage
- Completion of documentation including attendance sheets and progress notes
- Attend regular supervision with Program Director
- Maintain certification
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Creative Art Therapy and LCAT or limited permit required
- Previous experience working or interning in a therapeutic setting
