Position:                               SSVF Outreach Specialist

Salary:                                   $21.53 per hour

Location & Hours:            Suffolk County, NY- Part Time 18.75 hours per week/occasional weekends

Suffolk County United Veterans (SCUV) assists homeless and at-risk Veterans and their families to connect with critical resources and the support of other Vets and families in order to regain their dignity, productivity, and self-sufficiency. We are seeking Veterans who possess a drive and commitment to help other Veterans who have it barriers in their reentry to civilian life.

 

Position DescriptionSSVF Outreach Specialist will establish supportive helping relationships with Veterans and families who have encountered significant barriers to financial self-reliance.  Key activities include:

  • Building and monitoring linkages with natural supports and formal community resources including hospitals, colleges, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation, self-help, and social service providers
  • Work with the EOC of Suffolk, the Veteran and Veteran families to assist in addressing their housing needs of the Veteran
  • Providing supportive in-person and via telephone communication to help them to successfully access services that will help them to attain their goals

 

Work is done primarily in the community and position entails travel throughout Suffolk County and occasionally Nassau County.

  • A safe, personal auto and a clean NYS Driver’s License are required; mileage reimbursement provided
  • Peers will work in teams and receive regular supervision and as much support as needed

Qualifications:

 

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in medical or healthcare billing
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience billing Medicaid, Medicaid Managed Care and Medicare claims
  • Experience with the electronic and paper systems used in billing healthcare services.
  • Must exhibit excellent computer skills; ability to manage multiple systems as needed (Cerner, EPaces, Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and multiple E.H.R. platforms)
  • Must be a self-starter, exhibit above average critical thinking, attention to detail, communication and analytical skill
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be Fully COVID-19 vaccinated
