Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Position:   Project Coordinator for Mental Health Education and Training

Salary:      $50,000-$53,000 per year with excellent benefits.

Hours:      8:30 am to 4:30pm, (Onsite – Monday through Friday); flexibility a must

Location: Ronkonkoma N.Y.


The Project Coordinator role includes a vast range of responsibilities and tasks that involves active engagement with community agencies and providers; facilitation of educational programming, oversight/coordination of multiple mental health programs as well as supervisory responsibilities and leadership.


General Responsibilities

  1. Agency representation in local and regional mental health advocacy activities
  2. Represent, or facilitate representation of the organization in response to requests for mental health information and education: (i.e. MHW 101, MHFA, other topics)
  3. Coordinate and identify community resources
  4. Ensure program sustainability and growth through implementation and marketing of fee for service trainings and conferences, and new community partnerships
  5. Set and monitor program performance metrics to ensure that annual goals and outcomes are met and exceeded; this includes supervision of staff
  6. Continually seek to enhance one’s skills, proficiency, philosophy, and practical understanding in all areas pertinent to behavioral health services and leadership.
  7. Act in a manner that exemplifies professional leadership with positive morale, role modeling, and judgment in the promotion of an empowering, person-centered program culture


Specific Program Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead Staff on organization’s “HelpLine” (Information and Referral Services)
    •  Staffing and scheduling
    • Provide and ensure timely and effective response to calls, emails, and in-person contacts to the agency.
    • Maintain directories of community services and resources including specific list of behavioral health providers and agencies; including website directory
  • Community Mental Health Education & Speakers Bureau
    • Lead organizer and facilitator of mental health education
      • Collect and track data from presentations and events from all programs within the agency
    • Engagement of individuals and community around awareness of behavioral health, issues, activities, and resources.
      • Venues include schools, businesses, community centers etc. This includes participation in conferences (website and social media utilization and material distribution)
    • Arrange community outreach events and presentations
      • Collect and track data from presentations and events from all programs within the agency
    • Recruit presenters for Speaker’s Bureau;
    • School Presentations: facilitate/present workshops
  • Support Groups: Oversee current staff who lead family and friends group
    • Develop and lead new support groups in response to community needs




The successful candidate should possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Master’s Degree in Mental Health Profession(LMSW, LMHC, LCAT, LMFT)
  • Ability to present workshops; in- person and virtually to a diverse audience
  • Excellent computer skills: Word, Excel, Canva, Zoom
  • Detail-orientated, strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be a reliable self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Clinical experience preferred
  • Bi-Lingual Spanish applicants are encouraged to apply
