The Association for Mental Health and Wellness’ (MHAW) Recovery Center East, which is run by trained peer specialist who have personal experience with the mental health system, offers an array of services that help individuals with emotional distress, mental health and substance use issues find meaningful connections to their community.
All of MHAW Recovery Center East’s services are based on their mission that, the Recovery Center East supports healing and empowerment for our broader communities and for the people who have been impacted by mental health and/or substance use issues. We promote a culture of recovery through;
- Intentional, trauma-informed and mutual peer support by the development of genuine human relationships with people who have “been there”.
- Collaborative processes in which the individual may then identify their strengths, create goals, and take action to achieve these goals.
- Exposure to unique learning opportunities and community events through advocacy and empowerment.
The responsibilities of all Students extend to understanding and incorporating certain principles into their work, they will have a variety of duties and responsibilities that are commensurate with all staff members to support and further the mission of MHAW; empowering people and communities to pursue and sustain healthy and enriched lives. The responsibilities of all students consist of direct services as well as administrative work. They must work as part of an interdisciplinary team to address the needs of the community and the people they work with directly
